Line-set cover

Light weight UV cover to protect mini-split heat-pump line sets

An easy way to cover and protect the line-set for mini-split heat pumps.

Conforms to any twists, bends, and turns by some simple surgery with a pair of scissors and a heat gun.

Install a mounting bracket around the hole you’ve cut for the lineset. The light weight cover just hooks on, snaps in.

Sometimes you need a straight drop, one story, and a single straight cover does it. Other times it’s a little further or a little indirect, and you create your perfect cover, stitching pieces together using zip-ties, and/or bending in the contours you want.

You never have to buy fittings or elbows. No need to stuff the line-set into a  factory-made clam shell which typically have so little room, bending without kinking could be a challenge.

Tastic line-set cover is wide and roomy. You shape the bends you need in the cover, only after the line-set is fully installed and dressed in place. The cover fits the line-set. No need to fit the line-set into a restictive cover.

It blocks UV from deteriorating the line-set insulation. It also blocks wind so the line insulation can perform to specifications.

Tastic line-set covers

Kit includes 1 cover, approximately 7-1/2 ft long, with the hanging hook molded into the top; the mounting bracket which straddles the hole and accepts the hook; 2-inch weather-proof screws to secure the mounting bracket to the exterior of the house; 3 springy straps to secure the line-set to the exterior (a simple installation may require just 1); more screws for the straps; zip-ties to draw the cover tight to the wall; and a shiny new drill bit for making the zip-tie holes.

Straps are springy and get a good grip on the line-set without crushing it.

Pop a zip-tie through a strap, or just screw a zip-tie into the wall where needed using the included weather-proof screws.

Poke the free end of the zip-tie through a hole that you have drilled in the cover.

Push a new zip-tie over that end and push it down to draw the cover tight to the wall. Trim both zip-ties.

Extend with more sections, easily tied together with zip-ties. Where overlapping corners bulge, apply a little heat to tuck in the edges for a custom fit.

Kit includes our favorite zip-ties, UV resistant, using the best nylon PA66. We prefer these 8 inch zip ties for their reliable ratcheting and long life in outdoor applications.

Kit includes our favorite weather-proof screws. They are 2 inches long with a truss head and a geat point that drives easily into the exterior wall, long enough to get past siding into wood. Made of high quality white carbon steel, they are extra tough, corrosion resistant, and rust-proof (and white).

Kit includes a 3/16 inch drill bit, hex shank, so you have a nice sharp bit to easily drill holes for zip-ties.

lineset cover kit cut in half

Extension kits include more straps, screws, and zip-ties.

The kit is available cut short, basically cut in half, so it ships in a 4 foot box which saves on shipping. It’s up to you to stitch the two halves together using zip-ties.

It takes house paint great.

The weight of the cover is fully supported from the mounting bracket. Install at least one zip-tie to secure the cover so it doesn’t blow in the wind.

The mounting bracket can be adequately installed with just 2 screws, one through each side channel, but we give you 4 in case you need to pin it high and low to keep it straight over uneven siding or shingles.

On uneven walls add a zip-tie wherever you need to draw the cover tighter.

A pair of scissors or snips, and a heat gun allow you to bend it or turn it any way you want. The roomy 6 inch wide cover means even sharp turns won’t make a stressful bend in the line set.

Your construction can be iterative. Easily lift off the cover to disengage it from the mounting bracket and take it down. Re-work it to your liking: new pieces, new angles secured with a new hole and a zip-tie, more heat for more bendability. Then lift it back into place and drop the top hook behind the mounting bracket.
